Pearland is conveniently located along and just south of Beltway 8 and along Highway 288. Pearland is bordered to the south by Highway 6 and to the east by south I-45. Pearland’s convenient proximity to central Houston and master-planned residential communities are just two reasons why Pearland is among the fastest growing economic hubs in Texas.
Just 15 minutes away from the 610 Loop, many people in Pearland commute to the Medical Center and Rice Village for work. Many more commute to downtown Houston, which is less than 10 miles away from the area. Pearland features some impressive master-planned neighborhoods like Shadow Creek Ranch, Sunrise Lakes, Lakes of Highland Glen and Southern Trails. Shadow Creek Ranch is the largest among these and has its own mall and several developed commercial areas – along with a town center that draws people from the surrounding residential subdivisions. Shadow Creek is also where many of the area’s most popular restaurants are located, so it’s one of outer Houston’s most active areas.
Pearland’s other major neighborhoods are found to the east, and they are close to one of Houston’s most beloved and important landmarks – NASA. Mission Control is a popular tourist draw for Houstonians and out-of-towners alike, and when people are done at Space Center Houston, there are many bustling commercial areas nearby for people to dine out and enjoy various activities. Just to the east of Pearland is the Friendswood area, which itself is filled with master-planned communities and extends Pearland’s residential reach far southeast of Houston. South is the town of Alvin, which connects to the Pearland area via Highway 35 and provides motorists with a relaxing rural drive that’s never too far away from the city. In this way, Pearland has a bit of everything for everyone, including the legendary food scene that Houston is known for.
